Dear Parents,
This week was a short week but what fun we had! We began learning about the holiday of Yom Kippur. This holiday is a time to apologize to our friends if we have hurt them. We also ask G-D to forgive us for anything we may have done wrong. This led to a conversation about being nice to our friends, sharing together and being part of a team. We made a big friendship rainbow to hang in our classroom. We painted all of our friends’ hands different colors. The friendship necklaces were really exciting to make, each of use put five beads on a necklace and then passed it to a friend. When we were done, our necklaces were made by all of our friends!!
During circle time we had a puppet show acting out different scenarios of sharing and being nice to our friends, and using our words.  We read the book “Sharing a Sunshine Umbrella”  By: Yaffa Ganz. Playing the friends matching game with all of our friend’s smiley faces was so great. Can’t wait to make heart cookies with all of our friends on Monday!!
In our letter program we are beginning to learn about letters and sounds. We listened to the different sounds of a dog , cat, closing door and a zipper sound. We are becoming familiar with the wood pieces (big curve, little curve, big line, little line) from our handwriting program.
Each student has a red folder in their back pack. This will be used as a home-school communication tool. The left side is for paper work for home and the right side can be used if you need to send anything to school such as mitzvah notes.
We are off to a great start! Shabbat Shalom and wishing all a happy and healthy New Year.

Dear Parents,

We hope everyone had a good Rosh Hashanah. We were excited to hear from some of the friends that they went to Shul and heard the Shofar! They shared with us how the shofar sounded.

This week we talked all about friends and sharing with them. We also spoke about listening to our parents and doing the good things that Hashem wants us to do like being kind and saying nice things to each other. We made a classroom Yom Kippur Book to look at and listen to Morah read to us. On Yom Kippur we learned that Mommy's and Daddy's do not eat and this may be hard for them so we have to try very hard to make them happy.

We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, a book all about the alphabet and painted a very large Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree. We put ABC stickers all over it and even recognized many of the letters and some of the letters in our names. We also read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom 123 and painted our very own small tree and covered it with numbers for each of us to take home. Other books we enjoyed this week were Little Alphabet, Let's Share, I Can Do a Mitzvah, My Shabbos 1,2,3's and Dr. Suess ABC.

The friends have been enjoying tracing shapes with crayons and coloring the shapes in along with water colors, markers, dot paints and our favorite play dough. This week we played with our new Thomas the Train Lego set. All of our wooden blocks making very large towers and buildings.

Friday's Shabbat sing a long and Challah baking were lots of fun! We are learning a new Shabbat song all about making Shabbat chicken soup and pretending to eat it. We all take turns putting our favorite ingredients into the pot and stirring it up until it is nice and hot.

Shabbat Chicken Soup
Put some chicken in a pot, stir it up until it’s nice and hot, get it ready for Shabbat, for Shabbat…    Put some ________in a pot, stir it up until it’s nice and hot, get it ready for Shabbat, for Shabbat…(We add all the ingredients one by one.)

Dear Parents,

We had a great week in preschool. We are adjusting to our classroom routine, our morah’s and playing with our new friends.

Our Week in Review:

On Wednesday - we learned the first letter of our names (our initial). We decorated them by gluing pretty things on them and they are now hanging on our class bulletin board. We read Winnie the Pooh's ABC Book and Sliders ABC Book. We played outside and went to the gym room too!

On Thursday- we marched around our classroom as we shook our different musical instruments! We sang the "ABC" song and the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and then danced to some of our other favorite songs.

On Friday - we were introduced to our class "Mitzvah Tree". Every Friday the children are to bring a mitzvah note explaining the good deed they did at home and it will be read and hung onto the tree, then we all sing:

                                           Who did a mitzvah (x2)
                                           A mitzvah today.
                                           (name) did a mitzvah (x2)
                                           A mitzvah today!

Shabat Shalom,
